Tonight

Wednesday night, Roy typically gets home a little earlier, so we always look forward to "hump day" because of that. After supper, we just hung around outside on the swing set. This was Hudson's first time sitting in the infant swing and he loved it.

Also, I took a picture of our 1st home-grown tomato at the new house (haha, yes, I'm a dork). Next year, we plan on a bigger garden (much larger than our few herb plants, 2 tomato plants, and 1 squash plant)---however, we're happy with the size that we have going this year...but next year, *hopefully* we'll have a full salad :o) As many of you know, Ansleigh is absolutely in love with tomatoes...and she especially loves picking her own from the garden. I'm not exaggerating when I say, she eats them everyday.

A "piece by piece" collage of the swing set

May 30 weekend-First off, to start this, Roy and I have been talking about building Ansleigh (and Hudson, of course) a swing set for about a year now. So, we finally decided to do it. Initially, he was going to design, buy all the materials, AND build it to save a little dough, but after realizing how much time it takes in the actual design and in realizing that you really don't save that much money by getting the materials yourself, (and you could mess up big time), we started to research ones that were already designed and that you could buy boxed up and put it together yourself. Plus, we decided that we didn't want a lop-sided swingset for our children. Leaning Tower of Swingset equals no fun for family.

In the manual (yes, like a 62 paged manual) it first says to sort everything. So here's Roy "sorting". I was inside laughing...oh, and watching Ansleigh and Hudson.

Here, Roy is waiting for his hired help, a.k.a. Cody. This is one box sorted....2 to go. And the other picture is of the nuts and bolts. Estimated time to completion: 40 hours (yeah, let's see how that goes...) This thing better be sweet.

June 6 weekend
Progress, sweet progress. That's Cody out there helping Roy. Ansleigh, Hudson, and I were helping with finding the wood and bolts while they put the pieces together. Locating the numbered wood pieces was harder than you would think! We also were in charge of getting the icy-pops and drinks. I was good at that task.

I can't even remember at this point...kinda lost count of "man hours" after week (end) 3...still have a little more to do (build last bay window on the side, kill all the grass and cut out a big square around the swingset and put pebbles or rubber mulch in there, build up the area underneath the slide, empty all the bags of sand into the sandbox...). A final picture will be posted soon, assuming we get all that stuff done soon :o) Things have been crazy around here with Papa still in the hospital, so we'll get to it! In the meantime, Ansleigh has been having a BLAST swinging and hanging out in the "sky box".

Night of the Watermelon

I want to know, what kind of country girl eats watermelon with a spoon?

Well, finally she threw the spoon out and went in for the kill. First watermelon of the summer...

Beautiful sky tonight from the backyard. God is good!

Metro Aggie

My son wears pink and I'm not "sckeerd". Can we say Metro? Plus, it's an Aggie bib, passed on down from big sister :o) The truth is, I just pulled a bib out of the "bib closet" and this isn't the only pink one he's used---but I thought he was just so cute...looks like he has a foo manchu too (that would be oatmeal with apples and bananas, in case you wanted to know what that mess was). You can also see his NEW toofa. For sure, 1 down, 31 to go.

Ode to Monday

Monday's now begin with Princess attire, clip on earrings, and all things toole. The Princess class at Romp 'n Roll has proven to be worth every penny (thank you Mom and Dad!). She just meanders right on to the back with all of her "friends" and never looks back. I know that it's strange, but it makes me SO happy. I was very worried at first that she'd cling to my leg, and if that had been the case, I would have left feeling sad and guilty (that is, if I would have left her at all!!) but she's totally loving it. It's the little things that make me so proud of her!

Afterwards, we went over to Meme's house. Ansleigh was WAY too busy running all around the yard to stop for a pose to show off her new "purse hanger", so Meme posed for me. It actually is so adorable...complete with jewels and a ribbon. She said she wanted Daddy to carry it to work to hang up there, but I told her I thought it'd go better in her room. Poor Roy's office is going to look like a Princess Fairy camp by the end of the summer.

Here's my two sweet gals on their way to the mailbox. Meme was teaching Ansleigh about how the mailman comes to their house to pick up mail and drop mail off. We don't have a physical mailbox (just the P.O. box) so she thought that was pretty cool.Later on, Christian rode with me to the southside to Ansleigh's appointment and to help me with Hudson. I seriously couldn't have done it without him. We went inside, and Hudson was asleep, so Uncle Bubba sat outside with him in the car. When I got back, Hudson was asleep. I said, "Oh, awesome! He stayed asleep for you!". Christian's eyes got as big as saucers and said, "Uhhhh, no.". Not so much. He said random Moms were walking by the car, peering in, to see why the baby was crying so hard...I guess to make sure some crazy lady hadn't left him in there alone. He just waved to let them know he had things under control (hahaha). Oh gosh. Here's my two sweet guys when we got home from the doctor's appointment.
And later, I had everyone over to do a "Day-after-Father's Day, Father's Day Dinner" for Dad and Roy. Dad requested Meatloaf (and ohhhhhh my gosh, I got the BES meat loaf recipe from Paula Deen's cookbook--seriously, not to brag, okay, well, I can brag a little bit--it was the best meatloaf I've ever made), potatoes, mixed greens, and rolls. Oee-wee, it was good. So after dessert, Ansleigh pulled out her new Princess and Fairy underwear and made everyone put them on their heads. Now that entertainment. Roy got home and first saw Meme and thought she had fallen and had a bandage on her head. Hahaha. So, this is my family, with underdrawers for hats.
It was just another Manic Monday. Ohhhh....we ohhhhh!

Padres

I am so thankful for my wonderful and extremely patient husband, my amazing and very crazy Dad, my awesome father-in-law, my SuperMan Papa, all of my Uncles, all of my DAD friends...and all the other terrific men in my life! I admire so many different things in each of you. To you all, I wish you a very Happy Father's Day! I don't often say it enough, but I love you and am thankful for each and every one of you!

Roy, to you especially--you make me BEYOND proud and you are more amazing than I could have ever hoped for. The title "Daddy" definitely suits you well! Ansleigh, Hudson, and are are so richly blessed because of you and we love you more and more everyday. Watching you daily in the role of DAD is just too awesome. You truly are the rock of our family and we love you. <3
Today was such a fun day! Big Daddy and Gogo came over this morning to play on the swingset. We all got ready and went to see Papa this afternoon and then afterwards, we headed over to Lala's for some Fried Chicken and Salmon. Yes, Fried Chicken and Salmon! And to top it all off, Meme got to spend the night with us :o) xoxox

Backyardigans Family

We've been talking a lot about little baby cousin Morgan to Ansleigh...explaining to her the new role she has as 1st cousin and how she was in Aunt Stephanie's belly, but now she's out in the world and soon we'll meet her! Well, she then said, "Mom, I want you to have a baby in your tummy, like you did with Hudson". Whoa baby. I laughed, of course. I asked her if she had a little baby sister, what would she want Daddy and I to name her? She sweetly replied, "Uniqua". A little scared after that, I said, "And what would you name a little brother?"...and with no hesitation, she said, "Tyrone". Jingle, Jingle---Your backyard friends, the Backyardigans. Wonder why she didn't pick Pablo, Tasha, or Austin?
And no, I'm not pregnant or suggesting anything--just merely getting future baby name suggestions from my 3 year old daughter, which has proven to be a moot point and no longer up for discussion.

Cuttin' it up in the rain

I was talking to Traci tonight and I looked out the window only to see.....Roy riding the John Deere in the rain, with the lights turned on because it was almost dark. What a nut. Traci said, "Can't you get electrocuted doing that?" Well, that's a good question. So I googled it. "Can you get electrocuted while driving a lawn mower in the rain" and with much disappointment, I have no answer. I shall go to sleep tonight now knowing. I was honestly more concerned about him getting struck by lightening. I guess getting the grass cut was a job that HAD to be done tonight? You know those kinds of jobs that you just get it in your head, and it MUST be done? Well, I am proud to say, the grass has been cut, and Roy is alive. Not electrocuted or struck by lightening. But if you do happen to stumble across the answer to the electrocution question, please let me know what the verdict is.

No pictures to include with this post. Trust me, I got the camera out. It was just too dark and sprinkly...but I'm sure you can imagine it.

Bella Notte

Last night when I finally sat down, Ansleigh, Hudson, and Roy were already asleep. I turned on the tube to see what was on and the DVD was on. Too tired to get up and switch it back to the TV, I hit play to watch whatever it was in there....and lucky me, it was Lady and the Tramp. Do you know, I watched the whole entire movie? What a classic?! That part when Butch and Lady are eating spaghetti at Tony's has got to be the sweetest scene in a cartoon EVER!
I wanted to post some pictures of my own Bella Notte. I am constantly reminded of God's beauty and His miraculous creations when he uses the sky as his canvas.
Rockville, Virginia My Papa is still in the hospital but making progress. He's talking (very small phrases) when we ask questions and nodding his head to respond to yes and no questions. He can smile slightly, which instantly brings tears to our eyes everytime. And he's now moving his feet around and can pick his hands up very slightly. We are beyond proud, so happy, and continuously saying prayers that the Lord heals him. He contracted Clostridium difficile, or C. Diff while at the hospital. After taking large amounts of antibiotics for another infection, many of the good bacteria in his GI tract were killed, leaving his body prone to this infection which leaves behind really bad toxins that can be deadly for people at his age (in addition to all of the other medical issues that my poor Pa is coping with). Unfortunately, this bacteria is extremely common in hospitals and extremely difficult to kill...and as many of you know, he's been in the hospital for over 2 months now--which left him very open and susceptible to catching it. He's been receiving his dialysis (they put a pick in his neck for a continuous form of dialysis, rather than the usual 3 x week/ 4 hrs.). We are praying that his white blood count continues to fall, that his blood pressure stays high (over 85), that soon he'll be able to start eating again, and most of all, that this stinking bacteria makes its way out of his body FAST! My family has really rallied together and I couldn't be more proud of everyone. The strength, the love, the togetherness that I've seen over the past few days is beyond anything I've ever experienced and means more to me than words. It goes without saying, but I feel blessed to be apart of such a wonderful and loving family. I am so thankful for them, for Mount Vernon Baptist Church, and for the hospital staff that is taking care of him. I know my Papa knows this, but it is very clear--Edward Baldacci is one VERY LOVED MAN! Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for his health and for my family.
Love, Candace

Romp Roll....2nd time around

Had to post a picture of my little princess (certainly not the best picture in the world--she's eating her breakfast and looks a little taken by suprise!)...and one of her kissing her prince. Thankfully, this time, she fit right in at her princess class and I didn't get into "trouble" for forgetting her crown, wand, tutu, and jewelry. This time, they painted and decorated little plant pots. I don't have a picture because her other Prince, Daddy, has it sitting on his desk at work. She wanted me to immediately take it to him after we finished up at Romp 'n Roll. Afterwards, we spent the day at the hospital with Papa.

Chuck-E-Cheeeeeeeese

Oh boy. As a child, all I remember about Chuck-E-Cheese is being deathly afraid. Lots of bright lights, music that could blast an ear drum, lots of kids running around like bats out of a bad place, and a big rat who had a personal vendetta against me that purposely was trying to scare me to death. Well, Ansleigh wasn't scared at all, and let me just say, she embraced the rat---even the pizza wasn't too shabby. Chuck-E has come a long way and we really had a great time (and I was able to relive my childhood and have fun this time around). Sunday, Trever AND DeAnna, Ansleigh and Hudson's first cousins, turned 3 and 10, so we were able to make our debut at Chuck-E-Cheese. Let me tell you, Ansleigh had been talking about this day for a long time and I had been putting it off. Even though "Mr. Chuck-E-Cheese" doesn't advertise here, she still knew who he was and couldn't wait to go there (I have no idea how children get this "sixth sense" about fun things to do around town???). I was so glad we finally were able to "visit". Her and Trever's favorite thing was the little school bus. They sat in there together (and used up MOST of their coins) just riding the yellow school bus. It was truly, as Ansleigh would say, "Hil-are-e-ous".
